Regulatory Updates

Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 — Now in Force

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 came into force on 19 June 2026. Key implications for businesses include new requirements for internal data complaint procedures, a 30-day acknowledgement obligation for data-related complaints, and potential fines of up to 4% of global turnover for serious breaches of the data access provisions. All businesses should review their data handling policies to ensure compliance.

Employment Rights Act 2025 — Day-One Rights Now Apply

The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduced significant changes including day-one statutory sick pay entitlement, enhanced parental leave rights from the first day of employment, and the creation of the Fair Work Agency to enforce employment rights. Employers should update their contracts, handbooks and HR policies to reflect these changes.
